1920’s Spanish Modern

Nestled on a hillside in Glendale's charming Rossmoyne neighborhood, this home arrived with a wealth of original Spanish character — rich architectural details that deserved to be honored, refined, and thoughtfully brought forward.

The transformation took the home from a three-bedroom, one-bath layout to a more generous three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath residence. The kitchen was opened up to the dining and living areas, creating an effortless flow from the front to the rear of the home and allowing beautiful natural light to pour through every space. The result is a home that feels both connected and expansive.

Finishes were selected with intention — timeless in their foundation, yet layered with an updated decorative essence that feels current without compromising the integrity of the original Spanish details. Modern and ornamental touches were introduced in carefully considered moments, complementing rather than competing with the home's historic soul.

Outside, the project presented a natural opportunity to introduce a drought-tolerant landscape rooted in California natives, balanced with neutral hardscaping. The grasses and trees have since grown in beautifully, lending a lush, textural softness to the exterior facade that feels as though it has always belonged.
